SAN DIEGO, CA – Curebound, a San Diego-based 501(c)(3) philanthropic organization that raises and invests strategic funding in translational cancer research projects, has named Karen Hooper as the new Chief Strategy and Implementation Officer (CSIO). Ms. Hooper brings more than 20 years of non-profit leadership experience to the Curebound team. As the new CSIO, Ms. Hooper will be responsible for organizational infrastructure, staff and community engagement and strategic alliances.
In Ms. Hooper’s most recent role as the Executive Director with Diabetes Research Connection, she led significant community engagement efforts resulting in a 90% increase in research applications, exceeding revenue goals and mission delivery investment. Before that, she served as the Vice President of Program Development and Engagement of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, where she created a nationwide programmatic approach for mission delivery.
“We are thrilled to have Karen join our team and support our commitment to raising funds and awareness for innovative, collaborative cancer research in San Diego,” said Curebound CEO, Anne Marbarger. She added, “Karen is a strategic leader who will help increase our impact in the community as we accelerate cures for cancer.”
Originally from Los Angeles, California, Ms. Hooper now lives in Rancho Bernardo with her husband Ron, their daughter Karli and niece Bella. She holds a marketing degree from San Diego State University.
